Hiroyuki Masuyama. Time traveller
Cabinet exhibition in the cinema room of the Pomeranian State MuseumCabinet exhibitionAs a time traveller Hiroyuki Masuyama follows Caspar David Friedrich's wandering routes. Just as the 19th century painter created his pictures on the basis of countless studies of nature, the 21st century digital artist composes his landscapes from 300-500 photographs each. The result is backlit works that resemble their models in an irritating way and yet sensitively explore the changes over time.
The presentation includes a small selection of works by Masuyama after paintings by Friedrich showing landscapes of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, including the "Monk by the Sea" and the "Stages of Life" - two new creations for the anniversary year 2024.
