Meadows near Greifswald & Greifswald Harbour
Special exhibition

Caspar David Friedrich remained closely connected to Greifswald, the place of his birth, childhood and youth, throughout his life. Two of the most impressive testimonies to this are the paintings "Meadows near Greifswald" from the Kunsthalle in Hamburg and the "Greifswald Harbour" from the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin. In 2024, both paintings travel to the Baltic Sea and will be put at the centre of the special exhibition, which will highlight Friedrich's connection to his "Hometown" to conclude the anniversary year. The presentation will be complemented by preparatory drawings, city landscapes done by his contemporaries, and an exploration by the artist Cindy Schmid of the homely "meadows", Caspar David Friedrich's childhood and the question of the moors near Greifswald.

The patron of the special exhibition is Mayor Dr. Stefan Fassbinder.

To the anniversary year 2024 at the Pomeranian State Museum.
